Ruth Pappenheim holds an M.A. in General and Applied Linguistics from Exeter University (U.K.) and is a Ph.D. Candidate of Reading University (U.K.). She has held seminars on Scientific English at Vienna University, the Medical University of Vienna, and the Karl Landsteiner Privatuniversität für Gesundheitswissenschaften. Her experience encompasses lecturing and research in linguistics, English, and Spanish, as well as translating and editing. She has developed innovative guidelines for producing clear and readable texts. Her most recent book, "Your paper doesn't have to be unreadable! A manual on scientific writing," provides essential characteristics and strategies for academics to improve their research papers.

For whom is your manual “Your paper doesn’t have to be unreadable!” intended?

It is a practical guide for researchers in any scientific field who need to write a dissertation, a thesis, or an article for a scientific journal. It provides an overview of grammatical and stylistic resources used to express scientific thought. It also includes exercises on these principles and refers to sources to consult during writing.

What makes your book innovative?

The concept of readability in scientific texts. The book teaches how to write with clarity and flow. Also, the fact that it is a short guidebook. Researchers need to focus on their research.
