Persephone Mae

Persephone Mae is a young, queer poet studying linguistics at the University of Vienna. Her most recent work Stained Glass Windows (all´s light – all´s poetry) is a colourful array of poems offering intimate glimpses of her unadorned inner workings, and whimsical imagination. Persephone grew up in the Austrian countryside, and briefly lived in rural Wisconsin, USA. While stories and writing have always played a central role in their life, poetry has become Persephone´s favourite medium. After moving to Vienna to continue higher education their private pursuit of poetry turned into something more. Fascinated by the city streets, and emboldened by figuring life out on their own terms, Persephone began working on her debut collection Gothic (No.19), a reflection of this moment in time filled with urban imagery. Just shy of a year after the publication of Gothic in 2023, Stained Glass Windows followed its predecessor, the second of a yet un-charted line of works by Persephone Mae.
